REQUIREMENTS

Suitable smooth plain white ceramic tiles.

A shallow dish or similar larger than the size of an individual decal/transfer.

A Sponge and some paper tissues and or kitchen towels.

Some skill and a bit of patience.

Make certain that all tiles are all thoroughly washed clean. Have them set up near the soaking transfers are easy access. Blank tiles that are to receive the transfer should slightly wetted so that the decal can be moved easily and positioned correctly.

For even more professional results very carefully trim away the clear unprinted areas around the edge of the transfers while still on the backing paper before soaking them.

When applying the mural layout the individual transfers on a flat surface as they will appear on the wall. Start with top graphic element and place it in a shallow dish or any suitable clean container ready and filled with clean lukewarm water and insert the first to soak for about a minute. Gently test to see if it slides free of the backing paper but leave it on the backing paper for support.

Remove the decal/transfer from water. Place transfer (still on its backing paper) on desired position tile and carefully place a thumb/finger on edge of transfer whilst sliding away backing paper using a free hand. If the transfer does not fall into perfect position, then you can gently move it into place using the tips of your fingers. In order to smooth out the decal and remove all of the water bubbles, you will need to use a sponge. Holding the decal from one end with your fingertips (very gently) and gliding across it in the opposite direction with the sponge to remove any bubbles and creases in the transfer. Repeat with the rest of the transfers until complete.

Use the paper tissue/kitchen towel to dab any loose moisture from the edge of the transfer. Once the decal is applied then put it aside in a cool dry place for it to dry. The transfers need at least 4 hours to dry or best leave to dry overnight.

Finally enjoy the result of your work.
Make Sure the tiles are the right size before you start

PLEASE NOTE:

A tile transfer like all waterslip transfers are very delicate. It cannot be stretched, pulled or folded and it requires delicate handling throughout.

Tile transfers work best with plain white flat smooth tiles. Monochrome images can work successfully with pastel coloured tiles as shown below but coloured tiles can and will effect the thin transfer material below as they rely on the whiteness of the tile.
There is no guarantee the any transfer image will hide a glazed image on an existing tile as all transfers are produced on a thin crystal clear material making them near invisible so as not to reveal themselves. If you wish to disguise a decorative mistake of an existing glazed tile the use of specialist white tile paint over the offending tile/s may work before applying the transfer over that.
Its well worth taking your time to tease out the bubbles moving from the centre to the outside of each transer holding it in position. The wrinkles can be smoothed out i a similar manner and the best tool for the job is the side of the little finger. You'll have an hour or so depending on the temperature to ease the bubbles out then leave it to fix itself.
